Dharavi Mumbai June 2016

Chapter 003 | Titled: Dharavi Wall

Our third project took place in Dharavi. Dharavi is one of Asia’s biggest slum and we chose this place as it houses a lot of people from the Transgender community. Dharavi is often known for being an inclusive locality. While the Mumbai monsoons were a challenge, although the energy, enthusiasm and the never-die spirit of the people and the city made it possible for us to complete it.

We painted a wall which was a common meeting place for most of the young adults and children of Dharavi. The people of Dharavi welcomed us with open arms and made us feel at home. One cannot but only celebrate oneness and diversity when such beautiful people come together.

Funded by Aarogya Seva Collaboration with a young rap group from Dharavi called the Dawgz || A collaboration with The Humsafar Trust, Mumbai
